Early Fantasy Football Look at Colts Players

Posted on June 5, 2016 By

footballWith roughly two months before most participants begin their fantasy football drafts, Fantasy experts at ESPN.com took an early look at who they think is the top 300 picks are for the 2012 season. These experts weren’t excited over anyone from the Colts roster as only one player cracked the top 100. Ironically, divisional rival, the Houston Texans, had the consensus number one fantasy player for 2012 in running back Arian Foster. In total, the Indianapolis Colts had 6 players in the top 300 with their own running back Donald Brown ranked the highest, coming in at #95.

On Thursday, Indy Gridiron discussed Donald Brown’s hold on the top running back spot despite the recent signing of Mewelde Moore and the young backs trying to take his reps. Some fantasy experts believe that Donald Brown could be a “sleeper” this year. Head coach Chuck Pagano believes that Brown is a “3 down” back and has had a great off season so for. Unfortunately, I think that rookie draft pick Vick Ballard (#244), DeIone Carter (#170) and Mewelde Moore could

Recovery from Strenuous Sports Performance Training

Posted on May 3, 2016 By

recoveryWhat is recovery from strenuous sports performance training about? People who exercise regularly and play sports often spend a lot of time preparing careful sports performance training programmes. These focus on positively building all the areas of fitness and technique important to the successful conduct of their favorite activity. Some enthusiastic runners, cyclists and triathletes plan their year’s activities around participation in races (marathon, triathlon, etc) or hoping to perform maximally at each race. In the haste to go faster and stronger, an important aspect of training is often neglected: sports recovery. From the experience of successful athletes though (particularly those in endurance sports) more time spent on sports recovery leads to improvement in the quality of sports performance training as well as optimal results in competition.

What is Sports Recovery?

Exercise at all levels of intensity acts to do one thing to the body: it depletes it. The depletion involves your energy stores (muscle glycogen, blood glucose and fat products in your blood), hormones, and muscle structures. In other words, you use up the body’s valuable resources as you exercise and something must be done to replace

Posted on April 4, 2016 By

hjvgsdjYou just purchased a baseball that was signed by New York Yankee great Derek Jeter. But in a world where fake autographs and sports memorabilia is prevalent and people will do anything to make a buck, are you sure that autograph is real? If the baseball came with a certificate of authenticity from Steiner Sports Memorabilia, you can rest assured your Derek Jeter sports collectible is real.

The FBI estimates that about 50 percent of pro sports memorabilia is fake. This fraud costs the industry nearly half a billion dollars in losses each year. Steiner Sports Memorabilia assures it customers of the authenticity of their sports collectibles. According to our research Steiner has exclusive autograph deals with stars like Derek Jeter, Tony Hawk, Joe Torre and Eli Manning just to name a few. To assure buyers that their autographed sports memorabilia is authentic, a Steiner Sports representative personally witnesses the signing. The athlete then signs an affidavit affirming the autograph is authentic. The sports collectible comes with a certificate of authenticity and a tamper-resistant seal.

How to Play Fantasy Basketball

Posted on June 23, 2016 By

With the start of the NBA season underway, NBA fans across the country are lining up to play fantasy basketball. The two most popular formats being used include season long fantasy leagues and daily NBA fantasy contests. Both formats are available online through popular sports sites like Yahoo.com, NBA.com, DraftKings.com and FanDuel.com among others. Each format requires a different approach, which provides a little something for players of all experience levels.

NBA Fantasy Leagues

For years now, fantasy sports leagues have been run for the benefit of managers who want to manage their own team through the rigors of an entire season. While most leagues are played for fun, some league commissioners will organize leagues with an entry fee and prize money being distributed at the end of the season.

The process starts with an organized draft. The most popular draft format is the standard “snake-draft” where a players’ draft position is determined by random draw. For returning keeper leagues, the draft positions might be determined by the manager’s placing in the prior season. Over the past few years, auction drafts have increased in popularity. With this format, each manager is given a bankroll, which

Fantasy Football Tips to Play Fantasy Football Like a Pro

Posted on June 18, 2016 By

The best way to learn any subject is to experience it firsthand. No amount of cheatsheets, checklists, buddy advice, or new ideas can replace the wisdom that comes with years of experience.

The good news is that it is possible to glean some knowledge from those that have been there before. Our science is built by standing on the shoulders of giants, and our games are the same way.

The following are tips every fantasy football pro learns through their experience.

1. Understand what type of league you are in.

The type of league is a factor in the value of a player. Brandin Cooks is a prime example; Cooks was a great pickup in dynasty leagues last year, but wasn’t more than a sleeper option in redraft leagues until this year. After gaining some experience, he’s projected as a potential stud.

2. Know your league’s roster rules.

Sure, it would have been great to have Marshawn Lynch, DeMarco Murray, and LeSean McCoy as your first three picks, but if the starting lineup can only include two running backs, a lot of points will go to waste while another position suffers.

The Morgan Plus Four Super Sports Sports Car

Posted on June 14, 2016 By

A review of The Morgan Plus Four Super Sports Sports Car, covering development, important features, and technical data of this the fifth model in the Morgan range.

In this Article, I offer a nostalgic look at the Morgan Plus Four Super Sports, one of an elite group of classic cars, which was manufactured during the period 1936 to 1950.

The creation of the Morgan Plus Four Super Sports is, in essence, down to the skills of Chris Lawrence, whose Morgan Plus 4 was very successful in the 1959 UK Race Season.

In 1962, his competition successes came to the notice of Peter Morgan, who offered him Morgan works support.

As a result, he won his Class in the 1962 Le Mans 24 hour race.

Under the name Lawrencetune, he prepared engines for Morgan when specially ordered.

The Lawrencetune Morgan Super Sports used the aluminium low-line bodies prepared specially for Le Mans.

However, prior to low-line Super Sport production, a number of hybrid Plus 4’s were produced with the original steel high-line bodies, coupled with aluminium wings, and Lawrencetune engines.

These are now a highly sought after models.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Strategy

Posted on May 9, 2016 By

Daily Fantasy Basketball is one of the most action packed daily fantasy sports out there since players have possessions every minute leading to up and down scoring. Additionally, players touch the ball more often, and get points for a wide variety of stats.

Here are several top points that will help you succeed in daily fantasy basketball:

Matchup – Like any other fantasy sport, you are going to look at a player’s matchup on a given night. There are stats the measure a players defensive ability in the NBA such as their isolation defense, their pick and roll defense, and even their post-up defense (basically DVP). Obviously, you are going to want to pick offensive players going against a poor defender. For example, you may be hesitant to pick a PG going against Chris Paul because he is a good defender, but if you have a center going against Nikola Vucevic, then you can give him a bump in production. Honestly this is probably the most important thing because that is going to be guarding that player for a majority of the game and directly impacts how well that person will do.

Blowout Factor –

How To Win A Pantomime Horse Race

Posted on April 20, 2016 By

There are many questions that mankind continues to ponder:

Is there life out there in the universe?
What lurks in the depths of Loch Ness?
Who really shot JFK?
Why didn’t Harry Potter end up with Hermione?
Will England ever actually win the football World Cup?
How do you win a pantomime horse race?…

Wow, back up! Do people really ask that last question?

Well strangely enough, yes they do. Maybe not as many as who wonder if there is a God or whether Lord Lucan is still alive but you would be surprised just how many covert phone calls we get from people participating in these fun races.

Very often these pantomime horse races are run to raise money for a charity or community project.
Many are held at real horse racing courses but many are simply held on village greens or school playing fields. Some, like the one at Greenwich in London, are run along roads.

Let’s get something very clear. Whilst they are called pantomime horse races they normally involve any two person animal costume that folk can get their hands on. So these races involve cows, reindeers, unicorns, camels

Fantasy Baseball Players to Watch After the All-Star Break

Posted on April 14, 2016 By

In this article I’m going to go over fantasy baseball players to watch after the all-star break. These baseball players have done historically well in the second half of the season over their careers and are prime players to trade for in your full season leagues or buy cheap if you play daily fantasy baseball.

The first name that stands out as a player to watch in the second half is Billy Butler of the Kansas City Royals. Butlers name has been thrown around as a player that could be dealt before the trading block. The main reason teams are interested in Butler is his past performance after the All-Star break and not because of his slow first half. Butler finished the first half with only three home runs and 36 runs batted in.

Now that doesn’t look good for fantasy owners but if you look back at his second half performance over the past two years it may change your mind. In 2013, Butler finished tied for 7th in all of baseball with 81 second half hits. The season before Butler finished second only behind Derek Jeter with 102 hits. Butler has also shown some

A Simple Introduction To Fantasy Football

Posted on March 24, 2016 By

As the name indicates, fantasy football is a game where participants build up an imaginary team of real football players. Points are scored or deducted according to the performance of the players on the field. Points are usually awarded when any of the following things happen: a player plays in a match, scores a goal, assists in a goal through a pass or touch which led to the goal, saves a penalty, a goalkeeper saves 3 shots or more.

Points are also deducted from a team’s score if any of the following happens: a player receives a yellow or red card, misses a penalty kick, scores own goal, a goalkeeper concedes a goal, etc.

The number of points awarded for scoring a goal may be higher than the points awarded for assisting in a goal. Likewise, the number of points deducted for a bigger offense would be higher than the points deducted for a minor offense and so on. How many points are to be awarded or deducted are decided in advance before the game begins.

Most of the fantasy football leagues will ask participants to select a team of eleven players within a specified

Find Sports

Finding a sport for me

As well as a large number of local clubs you can join and facilities you can use there are also national organisations which promote sport for young people like Sport England. There are also national funding programmes like the National Lottery which can give young people an opportunity to develop their sport. This section concentrates on these organisations. Almost all of them will be able to put you in touch with a local organisation. This section also includes information on being a spectator and supporter.

Most people’s experience of playing sport begins at school, either in the playground at break time or in games lessons. Some people love school sport and go on to play in their spare time. For others it is a weekly chore and the sooner it is over the better.

If you never really liked sport at school you probably wont feel very enthusiastic about taking it up later. But sport is a very broad term and just because you had a miserable time doing cross country at school doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy archery or rollerblading for example. Perhaps you’re just not so good at

How to Play Daily Fantasy Sports: Your Basic Guide

Posted on March 13, 2016 By

Unlike sports betting and other types of online gambling which are considered a game of chance and therefore illegal, daily sports requires knowledge, skills, and a dose of patience to win in your league. You may not be able to win during your first few tries, but as you go on and develop techniques, learn the right games to play, and how the games are played, daily sports can definitely bring you money.

Daily fantasy sports involves three steps, and these apply to all types of fantasy sports, including baseball, basketball, football, and others. First, choose a contest that you want. You can either play against other users, or draft your own team and then play against your friends. When drafting, ensure that you don’t go over the salary cap that was set. Once you have drafted your team, you can then watch your team play and score. You win the game if your team gets the highest score during the play, and the amount you can walk away with depends on the amount set before the game started.

Whether you are new to this type of sport, or have been playing for quite a while and still

College Fantasy Sports Revolution

Posted on March 3, 2016 By

Just when you may have thought fantasy sports reached a point of over saturation, a new frontier is upon us. With hundreds of teams in each of the major college sports, fantasy competition is rising to a whole new level with the inclusion of college football and college basketball. This really is no surprise given the popularity of these college sports and the popularity of fantasy contests in general. It’s development has also been aided by the demand created by daily fantasy sports websites where one can compete for cash. Fantasy sports contests for cash prizes are legal in most US States and on a federal level. At a Federal level fantasy sports is defined and exempted by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA) because it is considered a game of skill as opposed to chance.

Nowadays many sports fanatics participate in fantasy contests from their computers at home and at work. Due to advancements in mobile technology and user friendliness, participants are now capable of entering contests, editing lineups and tracking player performances from their mobile device as well. All this adds up to a larger market that also has greater access to

The Effective Sports Coach

Posted on February 26, 2016 By

In this day and age of mega salaries for professional athletes in any sports, it is not surprising that many still consider the talented players key to any successful sports team. Owners of professional teams and fans very commonly forget the effective sports coach is the most important person in the team. Instead of spending obscene amounts to lure the best players to the club, owners of sports franchises should invest the most optimum money in the effective sports coach.

He will determine the success or failure of the team. But what exactly does an effective coach possess? How does an effective coach deal with his players? How can the sports coach plan and conduct his campaign such that his players and team ultimate reach their peak performance in sports? These are some of the questions we will explore in a good coach in this article. If you were to study the history of effective coaching, you will not fail to notice that very often these coaches produce very cohesive teams.

Teams with a common goal, and players put the team and others before themselves. There is something magical about a team build on successful team spirit, and all effective sports

Nailing Your First Round Fantasy Football Pick

Posted on February 18, 2016 By

As the 2013 draft day approaches, most people spend a large amount of time obsessing about their first selection of the total sixteen picks to be made. It’s true that the first round pick will lay the foundation for the rest of your team and is highly important to get right. Even though it’s highly critical to master the first round of your draft, the process does not have to be stressful or complicated one.

The first step is to put less importance on focusing on a specific player in the first round but instead focus on a type of player. This helps because unless you have the first overall pick, you really never know if a certain player will be available to you when it’s your turn in the order. If you base your research and team goals on getting one certain player, you could be set up for disappointment and will need to scramble to go in a different direction on the spot. This year there are two recommended types of players to consider for the first round.

This Fantasy Baseball Post Will Make You a Man

We’re about to separate the men from the boys, fantasy baseball style.

As we approach the 25% mark in fantasy baseball leagues, it’s important to assess your team so you can do what you need to do to take home the gold.

But what is a reasonable point deficit? At this point in the season, can you come back from being 10 points down? 20 points? 30 points? (Listen, if you are more than 30 points down, just close the lid on your laptop, cause you’re dunzo.)

Below are the point break downs for one of the leagues I play in, a 15 team 7×7, which means there are tons of points in play:

1. G-Brett’s ’85 Retros, 142

2. Marco Scrot-aros 141

3. San Diego Phishsanwiches, 141

4. Charlotte Chew Chews, 138
